Just south of downtown Austin, Front Steps is developing a transformative 19-acre community designed to provide stability, dignity, and opportunity for those rebuilding their lives. This innovative development and transitional housing community will serve as a model for compassionate, sustainable solutions to homelessness. One centered on community, connection, and long-term support.
Our Vision
A Front Steps Community will feature up to 120 micro homes and multiple on-site facilities that provide wraparound support, including:
- A Resource and Wellness Center offering case management, employment assistance, and mental-health support.
- Community spaces for shared meals, social gatherings, and personal growth.
- On-site medical and case management services, connecting residents with local providers.
- Outdoor areas and gardens to foster connection and healing.
Approximately 80% of residents will be veterans, honoring the men and women who have served our country but now face housing insecurity. The remaining homes will serve other Austin neighbors experiencing homelessness, promoting an inclusive environment where all can rebuild together.

Our Need
