Meet Front Steps’ Executive Assistant: Kimberly Harris
Front Steps is thrilled to welcome Kimberly to our team! Since joining us in November 2024, Kimberly has brought a deep commitment to our mission and an infectious enthusiasm for the work we do to combat homelessness in Austin.
Kimberly’s professional journey is as dynamic as it is inspiring. Starting as a vet tech, she later transitioned into data processing, honing her organizational skills before leaning into case management. After moving from Florida to Austin, Texas, she stepped into her current role as an Executive Assistant, where her diverse background serves her well in meeting the needs of a complex organization like Front Steps.
When asked what drew her to Front Steps, Kimberly said, “Community plays a significant role, and as part of it, I can contribute to making a positive impact. Homelessness is a complex issue, and I’m grateful to be in a position where I can help and expand our reach of support.” Kimberly also looks forward to the variety and learning opportunities her role offers. “My tasks can change at any time, which keeps things exciting. I’m constantly honing existing skills and discovering new ones,” she shared.
Kimberly’s shares her practical approach to staying organized and managing multiple: sticky notes, alarms, and breaking tasks into smaller, manageable steps. These strategies have helped her excel in a role critical to our organization’s operations.
One aspect of Front Steps’ mission that resonates most with Kimberly is our focus on providing housing. “It’s a fundamental human need, and we are working to change the challenges people face in obtaining stable housing, which is incredibly impactful,” she said. She’s particularly excited about initiatives like Transitional Housing Village, which she described as a “game-changer” for connecting people to resources and empowering individuals to rebuild their lives.
Outside of work, Kimberly loves spending time in nature, attending outdoor events with her boyfriend and dogs, and indulging her creative side by doing nails.
Looking ahead, Kimberly hopes to see Front Steps expanding its reach across Texas and adding more in-house services, particularly for veterans. Her vision aligns perfectly with our ongoing mission to provide innovative, community-centered solutions to homelessness.
Kimberly’s energy and commitment are already making a difference, and we’re excited to see all she will achieve as part of the Front Steps family. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome!
