Meet Jaime: Front Steps Case Manager
This August, we’re highlighting Jaime! With 24 years of military service and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Jaime brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and compassion to his role at Front Steps. Inspired by a lifelong commitment to helping others, especially fellow veterans, Jaime joined our team to be part of the life-changing work we do for our community. Read his interview to learn more!
1. Can you share a little about yourself and your professional background?
“My professional background I am a dedicated professional, with a rich and diverse back ground, I retired from the Military after 24 years. I grew up in a household both parent were educators, I earned my Bachelors of Social Work in 2017 I have been working in the field ever since.”
2. What drew you to this kind of work, and how did you get started in the field of social services?
“The Willingness to help and provide services to Veterans.”
3. What inspired you to join Front Steps and take on your role as a case manager?
“I was inspired to join the Front Steps Family for the accomplishments, and work they do for the community and veterans alike.”
4. Outside of work, what are some hobbies, interests, or activities you enjoy?
“I enjoy cooking spending time with family and my pets”
5. What motivates you to continue doing this work, even on challenging days?
“My motivation is driven to do my part to end homelessness one individual at a time.”
6. Can you share a moment or experience with a client that deeply impacted you or shifted your perspective?
“Impact & Mission”
7. How do you define success in your role?
“Being the best human being I can be.”
8. What do you wish more people understood about the realities of housing instability or homelessness in Austin?
“The Motto is housing first I believe that mental health services should be part of it as well to maintain stability.”
9. What message or piece of advice would you like to share with our community or the neighbors we serve?
“Trust the process!!!!”
