Today, we share an inspiring story from a veteran who recently found stability and support after years of hardship. Sergeant Crowsey, a 72-year-old Vietnam veteran, reminds us that it’s never too late to reclaim your life and that hope can emerge from even the most challenging circumstances.
A Message from Sergeant Crowsey:
“Listen up, guys and girls. I’ve got a short story to tell you, and I hope you read to the end because it could change your life. I’m Mr. Crowsey, and I’ve been homeless for the past nine years. How I became homeless is irrelevant to this story; this is about my new apartment and how I got it—absolutely free of charge with all the essentials: dishes, pots and pans, a bed, sheets, towels, and much more. None of it cost me a penny, thanks to Miss Trena from Front Steps.
Ms. Trina is the most dedicated housing caseworker you could possibly be blessed with. I was considered one of those “hard to house” people that nobody wanted to rent to. With a lengthy criminal history, no credit, and no rental history, I was a housing nightmare. But Miss Trena and the entire staff at Front Steps didn’t give up on me. Their dedication and commitment truly set them apart; they fight for their veterans.
Last night, I celebrated my first week in my beautiful apartment—something I never dreamed would be possible. The staff at Front Steps made it happen, and I can’t thank them enough for this blessing of the decade: a roof over my head. So please, put your trust in Front Steps, and you too will have your life back soon. I promise you!”
