Front Steps received an unexpected email one Tuesday afternoon. A letter that warmed our hearts and proved that our hard work is paying off to change the lives of the vulnerable. Mr. Craft, a neighbor who was recently housed was so touched by this act of giving that he decided to send us a letter of gratitude. The work we do would not be possible without you. You the person reading this now, our supporters, our donors, our volunteers, our staff. This letter was written for you:
“First and foremost, I want to thank God, Anthony, and Lauren from Front Steps. Because of them, I can now live and work in peace, without the fear of sleeping under a bridge or in a park.
As a veteran who had just transitioned out of the Army, I moved to a new city not knowing anyone and quickly found myself in a very difficult situation. I had nowhere to call home until Front Steps stepped in and completely changed my life in such a timely and compassionate way.
They first helped me with a hotel, and then transitioned me into my very own apartment a place I truly love and am proud to call home. What’s even more incredible is the ongoing support I received from Anthony and Lauren. From the days when I was sleeping wherever I could, to the moment I stepped into my apartment, they were there every step of the way.
They didn’t just help me find a place to live they helped me make it a home. From providing a bed to essential supplies for cooking and cleaning, their generosity and care made all the difference.
I am beyond grateful. Thank you Front Steps. Thank you Anthony. Thank you Lauren. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you.”
