- Can you share a personal story or experience that has significantly shaped your life?
Thomas began volunteering at a foster care center in Round Rock through his church’s outreach program, initially joining to spend time with friends. As a shy kid, he found a way to bond with the children there through singing, which helped him open up and form meaningful connections. This experience fostered his appreciation for people from all walks of life and deepened his empathy for those facing different challenges.
2. Are there any unique or interesting facts about you that you’d like to share?
Thomas is an aspiring professional golfer who loves to play on new courses in his free time.
3. What is the best piece of advise you have ever received, and how has it impacted you?
Thomas recalls his grandfather’s advice as the best he’s ever received: ‘Live life the best you can, whether people agree or not. Live life right, and life will take care of you.’ This guidance has inspired Thomas to stay true to his values and approach his work with integrity, trusting that doing good will bring its own rewards.
4. What inspired you to pursue your current career or role?
Thomas’s interest in his current role was sparked by getting to know Sheila and learning about her daily work in the nonprofit sector. Inspired by her dedication, he grew interested in nonprofit work and wanted to gain firsthand experience making a difference in the community.
5. What qualities do you believe great leaders posses?
Thomas believes that great leaders possess the ability to share their knowledge and foster a true understanding of the people they lead, recognizing each person’s strengths and weaknesses. He emphasizes the importance of patience, accountability, and a motivating spirit as essential qualities that inspire and uplift a team.
6. What advice would you give to someone looking to follow a similar career path or get involved in your field?
Thomas’s advice to anyone interested in pursuing a similar path is simple: “Take the chance. If you want to give back, don’t procrastinate—get involved today. Find a cause that speaks to you and establish your ‘why.‘“
